টেন্সের টেনশন কাটানোর প্রচেস্টার চতুর্থ পর্ব হাজির। আজকের লেখাটি Present Perfect Tense-এর উপর। বিশেষ করে আমরা বাঙালিরা present tense ব্যবহার করার সময় Continues and Perfect, এই দুটি tense সবথেকে বেশি ব্যবহার করি।
ব্যবহার করার সময় যে যে অংশগুলিতে সাধারণত আমাদের ভুল হয় আজ সেইরকম কয়েকটি প্রয়োগ নিয়ে এই বিশেষ প্রবন্ধ।

Present Perfect Tense-এর গঠন
এই tense-এর গঠন মনে রাখা খুবই সহজ : [have/has + past participle].
এবার দেখা যাক কি কি সময়ে এই tense ব্যবহার করা হয়-
The Present Perfect Tense is used to:
1.To refer to situations that continue upto the present (অতীতের কোন ঘটনা যখন বর্তমানেও বজায় থাকে)
The Present Perfect Tense is said to be a Present Tense which looks back into the past.
If you want to talk about an activity that began at sometime in the past, continued and is still taking place now, you use the Present Perfect tense.
- All my life, I have waited for a better future.
- I have always felt that films should be entertaining.
2. To express what happened in the past without stating a specific time (অতীতের কোন ঘটনা উল্লেখ করার সময় যখন তার সঠিক সময় মনে থাকে না)
When we want to mention something that happened in the past but we do not want to state a specific time, we use the Present Perfect Tense; as,
- I have read the novel, but I do not remember the details.
- They have raised five lakh rupees for an auditorium.

3.To express an action that has just been completed (কোন ঘটনা এই মাত্র শেষ হলে)
- The sun has set.
- We have just finished our tea.
4. To express a past action, the result of which still continues (অতীতের কোন ঘটনার রেশ যখন বর্তমানেও বজায় থাকে)
- She has been ill since last Friday. (She continues to be ill even now.)
- I have waited for my cat to return for 7 days. (I still wait.).
5. For repeated or habitual actions (কোন ঘটনা যখন বার বার একই ভাবে ঘটে)
It is used to denote repeated actions using adverbs, like frequently, often and such words (related to time) as thrice, four times, several times.
- I have often wondered why is Leonardo so charming.
- He has practised his game regularly and is sure to win.
6. In news broadcast (খবর / প্রতিবেদন লেখার সময়)
In newspaper reports and news broadcasts, the Present Perfect Tense is always used in the first sentence followed by the Simple Past, like
- The Government has decided to pass the bill. The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting…
- A large number of Sandalwood trees have been felled by a notorious gangster.
উপরে যে ব্যবহারগুলির উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে সেগুলি ছাড়াও আরো অজস্র উদাহরণ দেওয়া যেতে আছে। আমাদের বিশ্বাস এই Tense-এর মুল গঠন আর সাধারণ ব্যবহারগুলির কথা মাথায় রাখলে Present Perfect Tense এর টেনশন অবশ্যই কাটবে।
