ভালো করে লক্ষ্য করলে দেখা যাবে যে আমরা কথা বলার সময় সবথেকে বেশি ব্যবহার করি present continuous tense। আজকের এই বিশেষ প্রবন্ধে আমরা আলোচনা করবো এই present continuous tense-এর ব্যবহারের বিশেষ কয়েকটি দিক সম্পর্কে।

Present continuous tense-এর গঠন
The structure of the present continuous is: [Am/is/are + verb + ing].
এই টেন্সের গঠন মনে রাখা খুবই সহজ। এবার দেখা যাক, কি কি ঘটনার সময়ে ব্যবহার করা যায় এই টেন্স।
The Present Continuous Tense is used:
For something happening at the time of speaking (এখন কিছু ঘটছে বোঝাতে)
When we want to talk about something that is happening at the time we are speaking, we use the Present Continuous. In order to emphasize the time of speaking, we often use adverbs and adverb phrases of present time, like: at the moment, just now and just; as,
- We are having a meeting.
- He is looking out of the window at the moment.
- I am feeling very tense now.
To emphasize the present moment (বর্তমানের কোন ঘটনাকে বিশেষ জোর দিয়ে বোঝাতে)
If you want to emphasize the present moment or to indicate that a situation is temporary, you use the Present Continuous; as,
- I am working as a teacher.
- She is spending the summer in Shimla.

Planned future action (পূর্ব পরিকল্পিত ভবিষ্যতের ঘটনা বোঝাতে)
This tense is used to refer to activities planned for the future; as,
- We are going to have a debate next Saturday.
- I am meeting you at the airport tomorrow.
To indicate progressive changes (ঘটমান পরিস্থিতি বোঝাতে)
The Present Continuous is also used to indicate changes, trends, development and progress; as,
- Your handwriting is improving.
- The situation is changing these days.
To denote frequent actions (বার-বার ঘটা কোন পরিস্থতির কথা বোঝাতে)
This tense can be used to emphasize how often an action takes places using always, repeatedly, constantly, forever (Adverbs of Frequency).
- You are always looking for faults.
- She is always talking on the telephone.
In habitual actions (নিয়মিত কোন অভ্যাসের ঘটনা বোঝাতে)
To talk about actions that take place regularly, we use the Present Continuous Tense.
- Do you know if she is still playing hockey these days?
- He is seeing a lot of films these days.
ব্যাস, এই কটা ঘটনার কথা মাথায় রাখলে টেন্সের ব্যবহার অনেকটাই নির্ভুল হবে বলে আমাদের বিশ্বাস।
